Sara Lynn Evans was born February 5, 1971. She was raised on a farm near New Franklin Missouri as the youngest of seven kids. Music has always been an integral part of her life and when she was five, she sang each weekend in the family group. In the nightclub of Columbia Missouri, she started singing when she was just at the age of 16. It lasted 2 years. She relocated to Nashville Tennessee in 1991 with the intention of becoming a country artist. Musician Harlan Howard heard Sara as she sung a demo of one of his songs Tiger By the Tail at County Q Studios and decided she should sing his music. RCA signed her to an agreement. In 1997 Evans came out with her debut album Three Chords and the Truth. Reviewers praised the album as the return to country music and ranked it in many of their top 10 list of the year.
